Title: Health Services Representative
Location: Florida Department of Health- Collier County, Naples,
Florida
DESCRIPTION:
The Health Services Representative in the Tuberculosis (TB) area is
responsible for providing support to the TB nurse case managers;
providing Directly Observed Therapy (DOT); assisting with contact
investigations; coordinating the respiratory fit testing program
and assisting with the identification of TB cases. This position
requires the person to function independently as directed within
the TB team. This position is at risk for exposure to Respiratory
pathogens (Moderate Risk Level) and bloodborne pathogens under
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and
requires semi-annual TB assessment which may include a Tuberculosis
Skin Test (TST)/an Interferon-Gamma Release Assay (IGRA) test
and/or chest x-ray; and is required to have up to date vaccinations
for some vaccine-preventable diseases. Contributes to the
organization's culture of performance excellence by actively
seeking to improve personal and organizational performance through
measurement, analysis, knowledge management, and processes
improvements and participation in performance management
committees, councils, and/or workgroups. Continuously demonstrates
the Department's ICARE values. This position reports to the Nursing
Program Specialist, supervisor of TB program.
This position requires knowledge of the public health system and
the professional skills to interact with patients, health care
providers, and others in the community involved in TB prevention
and control; and the ability to interact with people with diverse
social, economic, and cultural lifestyles and characteristics. This
position also requires communications skills to interview and
elicit information from patients, contacts and at-risk
individuals.
REQUIREMENTS:
Fluency in English and Spanish (both verbal and written).
Possession of a valid driver's license and reliable
transportation.
EMERGENCY DUTY- Incumbent may be required to work during or beyond
normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency
duty required of the incumbent includes working in Special Needs or
Red Cross Shelters, or to perform other emergency duties including,
but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster
or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
Preferred:
A Bachelor's degree from an U. S. accredited college or university
in health or science related field required or comparable level
experience working in a TB and/or surveillance program.
Phlebotomy: collect specimens from patients through venipunctures
and process lab orders.
