Description: The Offset Press Operator is responsible for producing
all offset presswork in compliance with job specifications and
quality standards. This person must schedule workloads to meet
customer time requirements. They will perform daily and weekly
maintenance on equipment to ensure optimum output. This person is a
vital part of the overall customer service provided and will work
closely with other team members. Qualifications: High school or GED
equivalent. Vocational/technical degree in graphic arts is desired.
Three years recent press operator experience. Requires good
mathematical skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Able to apply
written instructions to machine set-up and maintenance. Thorough
knowledge of problem solving on press. Good understanding of
prepress functions. Meet or exceed minimum test results if
required. Responsibilities: Operate Shinohara four-color press with
coater Operate Heidelberg QM two-color press. Operate platemaker to
produce photo plates. Comply with all OSHA safety requirements.
Clean and maintain equipment following daily, weekly schedules.
Perform all press operator functions as noted on the work order/job
tickets. Operate plate maker to produce photo direct and metal
plates. Mix ink when required and interface with the Customer
Service Representative (CSR) and/or the Graphic Designer to receive
color match approval prior to printing job. Maintain knowledge of
safety requirements of job and equipment; be familiar with Material
Safety Data Sheets regarding chemicals used. Operate bindery
equipment as needed. Assist with job packaging as needed.
Purchase/order press supplies and paper as needed. Inform
supervisor of equipment problems. End of Day Procedures: Clean all
ink out of presses. Dispose of waste materials in compliance with
EPA standards. Schedule next day work. Daily recording of
production and spoilage - using Daily Monitor quality of all offset
presswork. Maintain clean and organized production area.
Participate in daily production meetings when required. Abide by
center policies/procedures as outlined in the employee manual.
Coordinate with Production Team to produce and prioritize jobs, and
when necessary reorganize to meet deadline changes and updates.
Participate as a key player in the Production Team by supporting
operations as needed. Communicate effectively with the General
Manager/Owner, the Production Manager, the Sales Team, and the
Production Team, informing and updating them regularly to guarantee
that both sales and customer objectives are met. Benefits: Medical
