LSF is looking for a talented Youth Care Specialist who wants to make an impact in the lives of others. Flexible schedules required! Looking for night and weekends workers.

HOURS NEEDED:  7a-3p, 3p-11p, 11p-7a

This position is located in Ft. Myers!

Purpose & Impact

This is a direct service delivery position.  The purpose of the Youth Care Specialist reports to the Youth Care Supervisor and supervises residents, provides quality care, ensures a safe and secure environment and transports and accompanies/supervises residents on outside activities.

Pay is $11-$12/hour based on 1 year verified experience working with Youth in a professional setting.

For this Part Time position, we are accepting both Youth Care Specialist I with no experience required as well as Youth Care Specialist II with 1 year experience working with youth in a professional setting!

A Day in the Life of a Youth Care Specialist

  • Provide supportive environment for youth.
  • Provide daily security and up-keep of facility.
  • As directed, participate in the implementation and monitoring of client case plans.
  • Participate in various in-service training sessions.
  • Attend staff meetings, as directed.
  • Assist with supervision of residents during activities.
  • Effectively manages behavior and supervision of residents during activities.
  • Assign and supervise chores.
  • Prepare meals as needed.
  • Screen clients, conduct initial intakes and administer client satisfaction surveys when so directed.
  • Complete required initial paperwork for clients.
  • Oversee shelter clients self-administering all medication.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability and flexibility to work extended hours and be flexible with scheduling
  • Valid state driver’s license and proof of auto insurance

Education:

Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

Minimum of one (1) year experience working with youth/troubled youth in an organized/structured setting preferred.

License, Certification and Screening:

Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) requires those hired into this position to provide proof that they have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (including any booster shots, if required) or must become fully vaccinated within the first 30 days of employment.  Failure to provide timely proof of your COVID-19 vaccination status will result in the termination of your employment with LSF.

  • Dependability, discretion, and good judgement are essential.
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with clients, co-workers and the general public.
  • Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.
  • Team player with co-workers and administrators
  • Certified CPR/First Aid, crisis intervention within the first 90 days of employment
